Tearoom Supervisor 

Job Title: Tearoom Supervisor 
Location: Lydia’s Tearoom, Foxdenton Park, Chadderton Oldham, OL9 9QS 
Contracted Hours: Offered on a self-employed basis, Minimum of 12 Hours per week (Flexible) 
Salary: TBC 
Shift Pattern: 9:30 – 15:30 (Café opens at 10:00 & closes at 15:00) Events & Bank holidays to suit business needs. 
Responsible To: General Committee of Chadderton Together and lead volunteer for scheduled day 
Job Summary: ​To help maintain and develop the ethos of Lydia’s Tearoom as a community café on behalf of Chadderton Together and contribute towards maintaining the 5 Star Food Hygiene Status. 

Closing Date: 12 Noon on Wednesday 25th May 2022

Key Duties  
  • 30 Minutes prep and clean down time at start and end of opening hours. 
  • Complete all opening and closing checks each day as set out in Daily Checks document. 
  • Ensure all cleaning requirements in the kitchen, café and toilets are completed each day as set out in the daily cleaning schedule 
  • Report any building or equipment faults to the appropriate person 
  • Complete Incident or Accident Reports when appropriate 
  • Be responsible for end of day cash report 
  • Liaise with Volunteer Coordinator on a regular basis and provide basic training for volunteers if appropriate 
  • As required liaise with Stock Manger to report low stock items and keep invoices for payment.  
  • Supervise the team of volunteers and delegate jobs where required on a daily basis.  
  • Any other duties as appropriate to the efficient running of the tearoom

Closing date for Tearoom Supervisor is noon on Wednesday 25th May 2022 with a starting date by agreement upon appointment.

Interviews and a short work trial to take place on an agreed date by arrangement.

PERSON SPECIFICATION     
Experience: 
  • Previous experience working in a café or similar setting. (desirable) 
  • Previous experience working in customer service (desirable) 

Qualifications or Training: 
  • Level Two (essential) or Three (desirable) in food safety standards qualification. 
  • NVQ or similar in food preparation  
  • First Aid Qualification or be willing to undertake training.  
  • Must be prepared to undertake any other relevant training related to statutory requirements and participate in Appraisal meetings 

 Skills/Knowledge: 
  • Be familiar with Food Hygiene Regulations relating to Safer Business Requirements 
  • Be familiar with current Health & Safety Regulations relating to use of equipment in order to maintain a safe café environment 
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Be able to deliver work to deadlines and under pressure.

  • Be prepared to be flexible and open to new ideas/working methods  
  • Show awareness of customer needs and demonstrate good service 
  • Have a flexible and positive attitude to work 
  • Ensure a friendly and welcoming manner at all times 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well in a team and use own initiative 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with a wide cross section of people including volunteers and the general public.
